what we Do

We support innovation, learning opportunities and community outreach for the Littlestown Area School District through the use of grants, donations and programs. We provide grants for academic innovations, support programs and athletics and co-curricular activities.

Academic innovation grants and runway grants are available to teachers in the district who want to bring new ideas to their classroom. Lightning grants are available for students to apply for and support any sport or club offered by LASD. Throughout the year we are also involved in programs which support our community. These programs include supporting the ACES’s PTO Caring and Sharing program by providing sneakers or snow boots to every child in the program, clothing drives to support Littlestown’s Ruth’s Harvest, partnering with the Adams County Library for their FunFest summer reading kick-off event, and educational presentations for families of LASD.

Neal T. Lippy Memorial Scholarship

The Neal T. Lippy Memorial Scholarship was started in 1986 by the Lippy family to create a scholarship in memory of Neal T. Lippy who served in the Marine Corps. In 2017, the scholarship was turned over to the Thunderbolt Foundation.

INNOVATIVE INQUIRY
INCENTIVE GRANT for teachers

The goal of the Innovative Inquiry Incentives (III) Program is to empower educators to increase student learning and interest by providing an opportunity to develop creative and unique educational strategies within their classrooms. This program encourages the LASD faculty to design innovative learning opportunities, partner with colleagues, and tap into the wealth of knowledge, expertise, and talent globally available in today’s world.

RUNWAY GRANT for teachers

The Thunderbolt Foundation is proud to announce a new rolling grant for LASD. We are aware that teachers throughout the school year find innovative and new ways they would like to enhance their instruction approach, but there is no funding to support their vision.

Grants can be submitted for classroom projects that will take place during the school year and can take place during the school day or as an after school program.
